Is it permissible for a Muslim woman to work as a midwife?

A Brief Description of the Question:
Aslamalikum, I am a practicing Muslim woman and I've always wanted to pursue a career to be a midwife. Is it permissible for a Muslim woman who wears the abaya to become a midwife. Also, in today's society in the western world the non-mahram of the woman giving birth is present, is it permissible for a Muslim woman to be present at the same time while assisting the birth and for medical reasons they have to roll their sleeves up revealing their arms? I would really appreciate your answers.
The Answer:
It is permissible for a Muslim woman to work as a midwife. She can work as a midwife in a hospital, village clinic or health care center as long as she obeys the rules of Islamic dress. (Tasattur)
