Young People who were Always around the Prophet

Our Prophet (pbuh) stated the following in a hadith: "I recommend you, good young people, because their hearts are softer. Allah sent me with honesty and tolerance. Young people supported me but old people opposed me." Then, he read the following verse: "Long ages passed over them and their hearts grew hard. For many among them are rebellious transgressors." (al-Hadid: 16)

Indeed, this hadith expresses a great reality. Young people of Makkah and Madinah helped the Prophet a lot but the old people opposed him and tried to eliminate him.
Hz. Ali (r.a.), who was honored to be the first male Muslim, was only 10 years old when he embraced Islam. When the Messenger of Allah had to migrate and make jihad and asked his Companions who would help him, Hz. Ali, who was a young person of 12 years old shouted, "I will."
The Prophet stated the following for Zubayr bin Awwam, who became a Muslim when he was 15 years old: "Every Prophet has a disciple. My disciple is Zubayr." He spent his whole life serving Islam. The Prophet (pbuh) stated the following for him and Talha bin Ubaydullah: "Talha and Zubayr are my neighbors in Paradise."
Abu Ubayda bin Jarrah (r.a.), who had to leave his family when he was very young, received the following compliment from the Prophet pbuh: "Every ummah has a reliable person. The reliable person of this ummah is Abu Ubayda bin Jarrah." When the people of Yemen wanted someone to teach them about Islam, the Prophet sent him to Yemen
Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (r.a.), who was an active young person, became a Muslim when he was 19. He was a soldier of belief and mujahid of Islam. During the most crucial time of the Battle of Uhud, he was one of the Companions that formed a wall of flesh around him. He received the following compliment from the Prophet: "Throw, Sa'd throw! May my mother and father be sacrificed for you!"
Sa'd bin Zayd (r.a.) became a Muslim when he was about 19-20 years old. He dedicated his whole life to the spread of Islam.
Mus'ab bin Umayr, Abdullah ibn Umar, Anas bin Malik, Muadh bin Jabal, Usama bin Zayd, Bara bin Adhib, all of whom led legendary lives, were young mujahids who became Muslims and who did not leave the Messenger of Allah and who never opposed his orders. When young people approached the Prophet and obeyed him, some of their parents oppressed and tortured them in order to dissuade them from Islam.
With this hadith, the Prophet made a historical determination and stated that the young people would form the locomotive power of the religious services. The statement "Their hearts are softer" shows that young people are tend to accept innovations and beauties more and that old people do not get rid of old knowledge and habits easily.
This hadith also serves as a warning to young people. It sounds as if the Messenger of Allah said, "O young people! Your hearts tend to accept the good and the truth more.  Then, make good use of this period. Learn what is good and right, and practice them. Young people gathered around me. Be mujahids for the cause of Islam."
The following hadith is also important in that it shows this aspect of the young people:
Samura bin Jundub (r.a.) reported this hadith: "Kill the old polytheists but not kill the young ones."  Abdullah said, 'I asked my father to explain the hadith on killing the old polytheists. He said, 'An old polytheist might not accept Islam easily. The nature of young people is closer to accept Islam; so, they can accept Islam.'" (Musnad, 5: 13)
As a matter of fact, the following hadith explains how man is affected in a negative way in the world: "Every child is bornwith a natural belief in Allah. Then, his parents convert him to Judaism, Christianity or polytheism." (Tirmidhi, Qadar: 5) In a sense, a person who is nearer to childhood is purer; on the other hand, a person who has lived longer and has approached death is confused and is more sinful. However, this situation is valid for those who do not know the beauties of Islam and who do not practice Islam. Those who arrange their lives in accordance with the religion of Allah and Islam, and work in order to spread it will improve as they get older.
May Allah make our young people gather around the cause of Messenger of Allah.
