The Irshad (guidance) of the Prophet
The warning and guidance of the prophet for the youth (PBUH) is extremely powerful. The following dialogue with a young person who came to him has a quality of solving social problems which the modern world cannot overcome:
One day a young person came to the prophet (PBUH) and said, “O Apostle of Allah, let me to have sexual intercourse” Those who were there got very angry, blamed and blocked him. The prophet said, “Bring that young person to me”. When he came,
The Prophet asked him “Do you want this act to be done with your mother?”
The young person answered:
“No, Wallahi (I swear by Allah) I don’t want it."
The prophet said,
“Other people don’t want their mother to have this act, either”.
And then asked him “Would you agree if this act is done with your daughter?”, “with your sister…”, “with your aunt…”, “and with your aunty?” and every time when the prophet received from the young person the answer "I swear by Allah, No!” he said, “Other people wouldn’t like and accept this, either”.
Then the Prophet put his hand onto the young person and prayed as follows, “O Allah!, forgive his sins, make his heart pure and let his sexual organ be protected” After that, the youth did not have any negative inclination. (Musnad, 5:256)
In this hadith, the most important way of protecting the individual and the community from fornication has been shown.
Especially the formula of destroying whorehouses, brothels and den of thieves exist within this hadith.
Some people who are deprived of chastity and bashfulness see the selling of chastity in return of money by some people as normal. However, prostitution is a humiliating act for human beings. It is not suitable for someone who has honor, chastity and pride.
Islam teaches the youth to consider their brothers as well as themselves. As a matter of fact, in a hadith the Prophet said, “Do not do to your believing brother what you do not want to be done to you.”
We need to listen the following hadith in order to understand what kind of solutions the prophet produces in order to solve the problems of the youth:
Narrated by Alqama (RA): “The Apostle of Allah (PBUH) approached some young people and said the following to them: “Whoever from you is rich enough to get married should get married because, marriage saves the eye from harams, protects chastity and honor. Those who are not rich enough to get married should fast because, fasting diminishes sexual desire.” (Muslim, Nikah: 1)
It is a social duty to marry young people off. As a matter of fact, in the 32nd verse of the surah of an-Noor, the following is stated “Marry those among you who are single, or the virtuous ones among your slaves, male or female: if they are in poverty, Allah will give them means out of His grace: for Allah encompasseth all, and He knoweth all things.”
Marriage is not for satisfying the lust but for the continuation of generations. That is, for raising “Abdullah” (slave of Allah), more worshipping humans and ummah for the Prophet. (PBUH) However, sensual desire is a small prepaid fee (pleasure) given to humans in order to make them fulfill this duty.
Unfortunately, marriage has become a problematic issue in the last century since social institutions have been ruined.
In the Ottoman period, a young person used to get marry at the age of 15-18 and could set up his business. The social life was so perfect.
Now it is necessary to help the youth who want to get married so that they can save themselves from the great dangers of this age. A nice attempt on this issue is foundations and institutions founded in different cities to help the poor young people to get married. Similar foundations should be founded everywhere.
May Allah save our youth from all kinds of disorders of this age.
