Angelic Young People

In one of his hadiths, the glorious Prophet (PBUH) said, “Women are Satan's snares. The youth is a group of lunatics” (Kashful Khafa, 2:4) Here there is an emphasis on an important weakness of young people and also a great trap.
As it is known, in Turkish, the young people are called “delikanlı”. (A term used for lads which describes the lunacy of the youth) This definition defines the mood of young people perfectly.
For, lunacy does not mean foolishness but the inability of the mind to perform the functions since young people may generally do things that are contrary to reason.
This is so clear that they are surprised by what they themselves do. They usually use expressions like “Rubbish, going crazy, madness”
So, it is necessary to discipline the mind of youth which is very close to madness, to keep them in line and direct them positively. This is only possible through belief, Islam and worship. A young person who knows the mortality of the world life and who thinks of death will listen to his reason instead of his emotions. A young person who believes in Allah and the hereafter will control his/her emotions. He/she will spend a legitimate life.
Then, the youth who are “a group from lunatics will “resemble angels.” Our Creator says the following in a hadith al Qudsi which is narrated by Abdullah Ibn Umar:
“A young believer who believes in my Qada and judgment, obey the rules and advice of the book (Qur’an), is satisfied with the sustenance I give him and abandons his lustful desires for my consent is at the level of some of my angels in my eyes.” (Daylami)
Again a hadith regarding the youth is as follows: “Indeed, Allah says the following to His angels by being proud of a young person who worships: “O the youth who abandons his lust for Me! O the youth who sacrifices his youth for Me! You are like one of My angels in my eyes.” (Ihya Ulumi’d Din, 2:432)
In two hadiths given above, there is good news for the youth that are more valuable than the universe. So, in order to resemble some angels, the following qualities must exist:
“Believing in every decree of Allah, obeying the rules and advice of the Qur’an, Being satisfied with the given sustenance, giving up the lustful desires of the soul for Allah's sake, worshipping, and sacrificing the youth for Allah.”
Young people who grow up by belief and worship and who spend their lives in the way of serving the religion of Allah are freed from making serious mistakes that destroy their lives like a group of lunatics who jump through a ring of fire both in this world and in the hereafter; thus, they can be elevated to the rank of angels superior to man.
The Prophet (pbuh), who gave great importance to young people, gave great glad tidings to them by saying, "Allah loves the young person who spends his youth by obeying Allah." (Daylami)
What makes man happy is to attain an eternal youth while one spends his youth. The way to attain eternal youth is to obey Allah.
So, spending one's youth by obeying Allah makes him both attain eternal youth and be elevated to the rank of love. A person who attains love of Allah attains the rank of a lover and becomes a lover of Allah.
May Allah make our young people abandon their lust for the sake of Allah, sacrifice their youth for Allah, spend their youth in His way and attain His love.
